THE BUSINESS CASE

Happiness and wellbeing are not a peripheral concern of a HR department, they are both a core indicator and a cause of an entire organization's success.

The relationships between wellbeing, DEI, and performance have been documented extensively in the literature. Research shows that diversity is linked to innovation and performance because it broadens the talent pool, discourages stereotypes, reduces overconfidence, and allows us to take advantage of complementaries between different perspectives and skills.

However, without building a sense of inclusion and belonging, organizations will have difficulty maximizing their potential. Creating a culture of inclusion is essential because, to take advantage of different perspectives and skills, we must make sure that everyone feels comfortable sharing their perspectives and offering up their skills.

Testimonials

We had a wonderful experience working with Susan. We were looking for something pretty unique in terms of content and Susan worked with us at every turn to create a program that aligned with our vision and goals. With her experience in the DEI space, she truly brought the topic to life with her energy and passion for teaching.

We brought Susan in for a micro-learning session to cover how to reduce unconscious bias when hiring and during interviews. Her work was based on evidence-based recruitment and retention practices. Her passion and energy come out through the presentation. She was very responsive when we were preparing for the presentation. We would highly recommend Susan for diversity and inclusion trainings.

It was motivating to learn about how empathy and emotional intelligence affect the workplace and how to incorporate strategies to improve communications. She provided practical exercises to drive home the principles being discussed, providing us with resources to apply to our skillsets. Thank you, Susan, for taking the time to be with us and sharing your expertise for an inclusive workplace!

Susan Freeman presented at our firm’s partner retreat. She led an interactive session that included many key takeaways that will be utilized by the firm as we incorporate equity, diversity, and inclusivity into our strategic plan. The 3-part program included the business case for EDI, the future of EDI, and the encouragement of making our unconscious biases, conscious. Conscious Inclusion Company has worked closely with our team in providing countless resources, insights, and best practices. Susan ensured our firm is speaking the same language and the program has encouraged us to keep the conversation going as we move forward in our holistic approach to EDI. The program was well received by the firm and kicked off our EDI journey on the right foot. We look forward to working with Susan in the future and encourage you to take advantage of her micro learning sessions.

Susan Freeman's presentation on "Understanding Gender Based Communications to Combat Bias" was a timely and important discussion. Not only did Susan and her co-presenter, Sheila Murphy share helpful insights about what's holding women back in the workplace generally, she provided practical suggestions we can all use to combat bias in our own workplaces. Susan is a dynamic storyteller and I left the session inspired and energized. Thanks for sharing your story and delivering an educational (and entertaining) presentation.

“Over the past several years, the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) has had several excellent speakers at our annual meetings and driving diversity leadership conferences. One of those speakers was Conscious Inclusion Company, who gave an amazing presentation to our group on gender bias. Conscious Inclusion Company's presentation was one of the highlights of the meeting. She had a mastery over the subject matter, engaged the audience throughout the session, was passionate and authentic, and gave us many "take-aways" from the presentation that I still think about a few years later.
